It looks like the reason for Andrei Arlovski’s absence from any fight card to date is his contract status. According to ufcmania.com, Arlovski has one fight left on his current contract and the UFC wants to get an extension in place before signing him up for another fight. The problem? Well it looks like Arlovski wants to be paid as his status (as both a top heavyweight in the World and fan-favorite) would entail him but Dana White and company think a lackluster performance in his last fight against Fabricio Werdum has hurt his value (how they can, I don’t know. the object is to win fights and Arlovski executed a game plan that allowed him to beat a very dangerous BJJ fighter. It was more Werdum’s fault that the fight wasn’t exciting, he was the one behind who should’ve been pushing the action).
In other news, current middleweight champion Anderson Silva is looking forward to his rematch with Rich Franklin in Franklin’s hometown of Cincinnati in October at UFC 77: Hostile Territory. Also, it looks like Dana White is confident in the UFC signing heavyweight Brock Lesnar, the wwe wrestler turned MMA talent.
