Mariners drop third straight, fall to A’s 4-3

Wow. I don’t even know what to say anymore. I’ve said it since July when he first started managing this team that John Maclaren is a terrible manager and needs to replaced. Every night it seems that there’s at least 3 or 4 questionable (to say the least) decisions that go on in the game. Well tonight there was about 12 and that doesn’t include the horrible decisions that go on every day of keeping Brad Wilkerson, Jose Vidro, Miguel Cairo on the roster let alone starting day-to-day (for the first two).

How is that a small-ball manager has a team that can’t even lay down a bunt with a runner on first, nobody out in the bottom of the ninth, down 1 TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW?! I don’t understand why Ichiro can’t lay down a bunt to move over a runner and perhaps get on safely himself. This is a guy that beats out routine outs and supposedly is a magician with the bat and yet he’s allowed to hit away and what does he do? Ground into a game-ending double play.

The offense is absolutely abysmal and what does GM Bill Bavasi do? He extends one of the worst hitters in the league currently — kenji Johjima — to a new 3 yr deal. Instead of bringing up a couple of young, talented players from Tacoma to re-energize this team (Jeff Clement, Jeremy Reed and Wladimir Balentien when he’s healthy), he re-signs aging veterans that continue to show that their best days are long behind them. What’s next? An announcement that Jose Vidro has been inked to a 5 year $35 million extension?

Give me a freaking break…
